We Don't Just Do Battles …

We Do Our Very Own Beer & Music Festival Too!

2nd - 4th July 2015

Is it me or have you noticed the growth in music and beer festivals in the last decade. It seems like every town or city in England has got one, and if it grows the way it has been, we are probably looking at one in every town by 2020?

The music festival scene was a blast from the past with Glastonbury to Woodstock in the USA, it was something that belonged to our parents’ brigade in the 1960s and 1970s. Apparently, the United Kingdom now champions one of the most exciting, vibrant, exhilarating festival markets on our planet! And so it continues for every successive generation. This also includes a massive swing in the independent festivals market too and collectively nets in a whopping £1,000,000,000,000 Billion Sterling Pounds (USD 1.5 Billion). The figure was recently released by the Association of Independent Festivals. Quite frankly, I didn’t even know such an association existed, did you?

Not Just Beer … There’s Cider, Lager and Most Importantly Wine!

So, Hastings not surprisingly combines not only its own music festival, but a Beer Festival too. But don’t think the name beer festival just limits you to a beer only event.

The Hastings Beer and Music Festival is spread over 3 days in the magical Alexandra Park. The Beer Festival boasts a massive 90 Real Ales at extremely low prices and covers a few lagers, local ciders and hooray, wine! Now, we cannot have all that drink with no food, so there is plenty of that too. Its reputation is growing rapidly as the best combined Beer and Music Festival in the entire South East.

Back in the 80s, it was predominantly a small charity fund-raising event and by 1998, it was renamed The Hastings Beer and Music Festival and its commitment is to donate 100%, I repeat 100% of all monies raised are for local people and firms that deserve their assistance.

According to their official website, over 10,000 people attended and raised an astounding £72,000 for local good causes and this was all managed by The Hastings and Battle Round Tables and the entire staff consists of volunteers. Since their launch in 1981, they have whisked £1,000,000 pounds to local good causes. Their motto is “Great Fun for Great Causes”. So, what are you waiting for folks, go get your tickets now!

On the music front, Hastings is the home for the Battle of Hastings Proms, conducted by the talented Mr Roger Wilcock, the Medway Towns Band will be lashing out your favourites with the “Last Night at The Proms”. They will be supported by the Hastings Big Choir, and when I say Big, I mean 150 strong group. That’s pretty big.

Accommodation:- Holiday Parks in Hastings, Caravan Parks or B&B

In recent years, the festival has gained reputation, goodwill and popularity year on year. So, please don’t leave your accommodation bookings to the last minute. You only have a few days left to book!

If you struggling to find the right place, I know of one that will be perfect just for you. The Sanctuary Retreat!

See you there!
